About – Sweet Trees and Bees Team

My wife and I started our bee journey in early 2024, with an order of a nucleus hive (or “nuc”) and a set of equipment from Amazon. Then did more research on bees and realized one was not ideal. So we built three more hives worth of equipment and order a couple more nucs. Then from there has become part of our lives learning and watching after the bees. Our focus has been on keeping them alive and not swarming, and honey is secondary.

Most of our honey boxes, super, bottom board, and lids are made from Western Red Cedar grown on the farm. The logs are mostly fallen by storms and some from thing. We cut the logs into boards with a portable band saw mill, then stack to let dry. Once air dried for a few months to a year we clean up the boards and make bee equipment with them.
